Cigno
Cigno (Swan) is the search for a self-portrait. A necessary and voluntary act of naïveté. It is the construction on sheet music of body and rhythm, inside the music variations of a solo that became so famous that it penetrated the social imaginary (the choreographic miniature “The dying swan” choreographed in 1907 by Michael Fòkine for the ballet dancer Anna Pavlova). It is an investigation field where movement flows out of fragments and images treasured in memory, it builds up, accelerates and slows down, it goes back and forth in time. The dancing body looks for itself in this fluctuation: it brings along movements and gestures born elsewhere, in life, in the choreography, giving back to the present time its own past and future. The awareness of the dancing body intertwines with the practice of the organic body, with the one simply living in search of an expressive genuineness, which inevitably starts from technique and then ends up trying to get free of it. |
